Speech therapy is a specialized form of therapy that focuses on improving communication skills, swallowing function, voicing and speech production in individuals who have difficulty with these skills due to various neurological or physical conditions. This type of therapy aims to improve overall quality of life by addressing the underlying issues that affect an individual’s ability to communicate effectively.

Our clinic is unique because we are providing services to individuals ages 19-99+ with a wide range of abilities and disabilities. We strive to help young adults on the autism spectrum, individuals suffering traumatic brain injury, victims of stroke and other progressive neurological disorders like Parkinson’s. We support geriatric ages as they journey thru all stages of dementia and provide individualized treatment to each patient to achieve independent communication skills and the best quality of life possible.

Cognitive Retraining

Cognitive retraining is a therapeutic technique that focuses on improving cognitive functions such as processing speed, memory, and word recall. It involves exercises and activities designed to challenge and strengthen the brain’s ability to process information, remember information, and retrieve words. This can be especially beneficial for individuals who have suffered from a brain injury or stroke.

Improved Swallowing Function

Difficulty swallowing, also known as dysphagia, can be caused by a variety of medical conditions. Our speech therapists are trained in techniques to improve swallowing function and reduce the risk of aspiration (inhaling food or liquids into the lungs). This can help prevent choking, chest infections, and other complications associated with dysphagia.

Improved Voicing and Speech Production

Speech difficulties can greatly impact communication and quality of life. Our speech therapy service includes techniques to improve voicing and speech production, helping individuals to speak more clearly and effectively. This can be especially beneficial for those with conditions such as dysarthria or apraxia.

Improved Safety Awareness

Speech therapy can also help improve safety awareness, particularly for individuals who have suffered from a brain injury or have cognitive impairments. Our therapists work with clients to develop strategies and techniques to enhance safety awareness and prevent accidents or injuries.
